The story of the bird
Spring on a branch. The robin pauses among the first blossom, upright and alert, the tilt of the head as familiar as the song.
This is the bird everyone knows and few really look at. Here it is held in close, that warm brick-orange breast set against a grey-brown back, a spray of pale spring blossom at its feet. The Audubon-style palette does the rest: muted earths, a clean cream ground, and one bold note of colour where the breast catches the light.
The print

How to hang it
That orange breast wants a calm surround. A black or dark grey frame lets the colour sing, while gold leans more traditional and warm.

About the bird
The American Robin is a large thrush, common across lawns and woodland edges from Canada to Mexico. It hunts by sight and sound, pausing to tilt its head before pulling earthworms from the soil, and switches to berries through autumn and winter. Its clear, rolling song is one of the first heard before dawn, which is why so many people read it as the true start of spring.
A familiar visitor, given its due.
