Printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm.

The largest flying bird in North America, and one of the great conservation stories of our time. With a wingspan approaching ten feet, the California condor soars on broad black wings marked by bold white underwing panels, its bare head unmistakable. A fine-art study in the Audubon tradition, drawn to carry the sheer scale and presence of a bird brought back from the very edge of extinction.

Where to hang it

A dramatic, large-scale print for a wall with room to give it. It suits a study, a great room or a lodge, anywhere with the height and space a bird this size deserves. Best shown large, at 16x20 or 24x30.

Best gift for

A conservationist, a serious birder, or anyone moved by a species saved from extinction. Reduced to just 22 birds in the 1980s and now flying again over the West, the condor is a meaningful gift for someone who cares about the wild being brought back.

Paper and finish

Unframed prints come on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a heavyweight cotton rag with a soft matte surface and true archival life. The framed option is set in a classic moulding, glazed and ready to hang, in black, white or natural.

Sizes

Three sizes: 8x10, 16x20 and 24x30 inches, or an instant digital download at $9. Prints from $39. Framed from $99.

About the bird

The California condor is a New World vulture that rides thermals for miles in search of carrion. By 1987 every wild bird had been taken into a captive breeding programme to save the species; their descendants now soar again over California, Arizona, Utah and Baja, though the population remains small and closely watched.
