Printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm.

No other state holds birds like Arizona. The Sonoran Desert in the west, the Colorado Plateau to the north, and the sky-island canyons of the southeast pull more than 570 species across a few hundred miles. Saguaro forest gives way to pine-oak woodland. Mexican specialties found nowhere else in the country reach the canyon corridors and stop. This plate gathers Arizona’s signature birds onto a single sheet, drawn in the Audubon tradition.

The composite carries the Cactus Wren, the state bird since 1931 and the largest wren in North America, set against the cholla it nests in. Around it: the Pyrrhuloxia, the desert cardinal of the thornscrub, with its parrot-curved yellow bill. Anna’s Hummingbird, the one hummingbird that stays through an Arizona winter. The Northern Mockingbird and the abundant House Finch. The Mourning Dove and the Great Horned Owl that nests in old Gila Woodpecker cavities. The Turkey Vulture riding the southern thermals. One sheet, the resident community of the desert and the suburban yard.

The print

A studied composite in the Audubon style. Cream ground, the navy and sage of the brand palette, the cardinal red of the Pyrrhuloxia’s crest. Each bird drawn in true proportion to the others, arranged as a single editorial plate rather than a chart. It reads as one picture of what Arizona’s skies and washes actually hold.

Paper and finish

Unframed prints come on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a heavyweight cotton rag with a soft matte surface and true archival life. The framed option is a different stock: Enhanced Matte 200gsm, set in a classic moulding, mounted and glazed, ready to hang straight from the box. Choose your frame in black, brown, dark grey or gold.

Sizes

Three sizes: A4, A3 and A2. Prints from $39. Framed from $109.

How to hang it

A composite plate wants room to breathe. Give it a pale wall, warm white or sage, and hang it at eye height where the desert palette can carry. A brown or gold moulding suits the cream ground and the warm light of a south-facing room. Black or dark grey gives a more graphic edge for a modern wall. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the red over decades.

Seven of Arizona’s signature birds, one plate, one desert.
