The Snowy Plover is the palest, softest bird on the beach, a small pale wader the colour of dry sand. Its quiet, sand-and-ivory palette makes it one of the calmest pieces in the collection, a gentle print for a bright bedroom, a bathroom or a coastal set built around neutral tone.
The Snowy Plover nests in shallow scrapes on open sandy beaches and alkali flats, so well camouflaged against the pale ground that it all but disappears. Its beach-nesting habit has made it a focus of coastal conservation, which gives the print a quiet meaning for anyone who protects the shore. Pale grey-buff above and white below, with a small dark shoulder mark, it is the softest and most restrained of the plovers to hang.
